Philippines government prepares aid for families affected by Kanlaon Volcano eruption
The Philippine government is prepared to assist families affected by the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano in Negros. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed that support is ready for those evacuated from the 6-kilometer danger zone. The Department of Social Welfare and Development is actively involved, with its chief already on-site in Negros to manage the response. The government is also monitoring toxic gas levels to assess the need for further evacuations. Kanlaon erupted on Monday, prompting an alert level increase to 3 due to magmatic unrest. The eruption affected around 87,000 residents, with a plume rising 3,000 meters into the air.
