Philippines honors water champions on World Water Day

Other awards highlighted institutions with exceptional water conservation practices, including the Judicial Academy of the Philippines for efficient wastewater management. Individuals and organizations dedicated to improving irrigation and water service delivery were also acknowledged. The NIA Most Outstanding Irrigators’ Association Award honored several groups for their efficient management of irrigation systems, which support agricultural communities. The event emphasized the importance of women in water leadership. Awards were presented to several women for their contributions to water education, governance, and resource management. Engr. Ronald Padua of Maynilad emphasized the need for collective action in water sustainability. He called for collaboration in addressing challenges like water scarcity and pollution. The World Water Day Awards have recognized over 160 individuals and groups since they began. The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency launched a new National Volunteering Framework to encourage more people to get involved in protecting water resources.
