Phivolcs clarifies haze in Philippines is not from Mt. Kanlaon
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) clarified that haze seen across the country is not from Mt. Kanlaon. While the volcano is still emitting ash, the effects are limited to nearby areas. Volcanologist Mari-Andylene Quintia stated that the haze reported in various regions, including Cebu, is not linked to volcanic smog from Kanlaon. She noted that haze has been widespread since November 14. Phivolcs also mentioned that other volcano observatories in the Philippines reported haze, but it is not necessarily connected to volcanic activity. The atmosphere remains hazy across the country.
