Phnom Penh to open £1 billion international airport
Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, is set to open a new £1 billion airport, Techo Takhmao International Airport, next year. This airport will be the ninth largest in the world, with a capacity for 13 million passengers annually. The first phase includes a single runway and terminal, with plans for expansion to accommodate 30 million passengers by 2030 and 50 million by 2050. The new airport will replace Phnom Penh International Airport for commercial flights. The airport will feature a design inspired by local traditions and will be energy-efficient, utilizing an onsite solar farm. It will enhance Cambodia's connectivity and support its growing economy, which is currently the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia.
