Phursungi residents demand immediate water supply actions
Residents of Phursungi are frustrated over delays in water supply from a newly built overhead tank. They have given the local civic administration a week to start the service, threatening to protest if their demands are not met. The planned protest aims to improve the area's water supply system. Former corporator Ganesh Dhore is urging the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to begin the water supply before a major fair in Phursungi set for early April. This event is expected to draw hundreds of attendees, increasing the demand for water. Dhore, alongside other residents, submitted a memorandum to the civic administration on Monday. Many locals express concern about the current water supply situation, describing the existing tankers provided by the PMC as insufficient. Dhore mentioned the residents' frustration and noted the potential for strong protests if the situation does not improve. Phursungi and neighboring Devachi Urali were part of the PMC until last year when they were removed to form a separate municipal council. Despite this, residents believe it is still the administration's duty to provide them with water. Local resident Shivram Jadhav highlighted the urgency of starting the water supply, especially with summer approaching. Sources indicate that the overhead tank will receive water from the Cantonment water works. However, poor communication between the PMC and local administration is causing delays. PMC officials have stated that final preparations are in progress to begin the water supply from the overhead tank. Both regions will also benefit from the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran's water supply scheme.
