Pilot downplayed engine vibrations before fire at DIA
An American Airlines pilot calmly handled engine vibrations on a flight from Colorado Springs to Dallas. Audio recordings show she assured air traffic control that the situation was not an emergency, despite the vibrations causing a slower cruise speed. The Boeing 737-800 safely landed at Denver International Airport, but shortly after, one engine caught fire during taxiing. An emergency evacuation followed, with 172 passengers and six crew members using slides to exit the aircraft. Twelve passengers were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
