Pioneer Valley Panthers complete undefeated season, win championship
Pioneer Valley Panthers completed an undefeated season, winning the Division 5 boys basketball state championship with a 49-28 victory over Hopedale. This marks their third state title, adding to wins in 1996 and 1997. Brayden Thayer led the Panthers with 26 points, while Alex McClelland contributed 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. The Panthers' strong defense stifled Hopedale, who struggled with shooting throughout the game. Head coach Scott Thayer noted the emotional significance of the win, as it was his final game coaching his son, Brayden. The team's success was attributed to their defense and teamwork throughout the season.
