A boutique hotel in Charleston's Historic District, known as Planters Inn, was sold on St. Patrick's Day for $75 million. This price equates to about $1.1 million per room. The new owner, Crystal Creek Capital from Jackson, Wyoming, plans to renovate the hotel. The property is located at 112 N. Market St., near the famous City Market. Former owner Hank Holliday sold the hotel in 2020 for $64 million to Northwood Investors. This earlier sale included both the building and its furnishings. The Planters Inn has been a member of the luxury hotel group Relais & Châteaux since 1998 and will continue to be affiliated. In another transaction, the Avid Hotel in Summerville was sold for $12.9 million. This hotel, which has 95 rooms, was sold for about $135,789 per key. The buyer, KBS Hospitality LLC, purchased the hotel from Summerville Lodging, which had developed the hotel after acquiring the lot in 2018 for $800,000. Air Canada will resume its seasonal flights between Charleston and Toronto starting March 30. The new schedule will operate from Thursday to Monday instead of daily. The airline had only recently reinstated service on the route last year. Lastly, on Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29, the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will host a screening of rare combat footage from the Vietnam War. The footage is part of a collection that has been kept by the University of South Carolina since 2015. Veterans and their families will receive free admission to the museum that day.
