PM Wong urges Tengah residents to strengthen community bonds

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong spoke at the opening of the Tengah Community Club on March 22, highlighting the potential of Tengah to become a vibrant town. PM Wong compared Tengah to Punggol, a town that has undergone significant development. He noted that, like Punggol, Tengah is starting to take shape and will improve over the coming years. He urged residents to engage in community activities, get to know their neighbors, and help strengthen ties within the estate. Wong emphasized the importance of solidarity, especially as Singapore faces global challenges. He reassured the community that the government is committed to addressing their concerns, including issues related to the cost of living. Several local MPs attended the opening ceremony, including Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling. During the event, PM Wong and other officials interacted with residents in the area, including visiting the new Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre. Local MP Amy Khor expressed her dedication to serving the residents of Tengah and mentioned ongoing efforts to improve transport connectivity in the area. She acknowledged that some residents are seeking better access to MRT stations and more bus routes. Among the attendees was Eric Chua, who has lived in Tengah for over a year. He noted changes in the area, particularly with the opening of a nearby mall, and expressed a desire to connect with fellow residents through activities like chess.
