hindustantimes.com

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has extended financial assistance for Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) patients until March 31, 2025. This decision comes as a response to ongoing sporadic cases, despite a significant decline in overall GBS cases. Since January 9, 2025, Pune reported 141 GBS cases and nine suspected deaths. Initially, PMC planned to halt financial aid after a decline in cases but decided to continue support for patients facing high medical costs. Eligible patients can receive ₹ 2 lakh under the Urban Poor Health Scheme, while others can get ₹ 1 lakh. PMC has disbursed ₹ 54 lakh to 42 patients since the aid program began.
