PMNFT to play Maldives in AFC Asian Cup qualifier
The Philippine Men’s National Football Team (PMNFT) is preparing for a key match against the Maldives in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers. The game is set for March 25 and will take place at New Clark City Stadium. Unfortunately, the team will be missing several important players. Gerrit Holtmann, Javi Mariona, Patrick Strauss, and Dylan Demuynck are unavailable for this match. Holtmann is out due to an injury but hopes to return by June. Last December, the PMNFT had a strong performance in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup, reaching the semifinals for the first time in over 50 years. They defeated Thailand in a thrilling match before being eliminated. Despite the missing players, head coach Albert Capellas has a strong squad ready to compete. The team includes veterans like Sandro Reyes, Bjorn Kristensen, Jarvey Gayoso, and Quincy Kammeraad. After the match with Maldives, the Philippines will face Tajikistan on June 10. They also have upcoming games against Timor-Leste on October 9 and 14, and will meet Maldives again on November 18. Their last group match is set for March 31 next year. The Philippines is in Group A, and every game is important for their chances to qualify for the Asian Cup.
