PNP finalizes security for Duterte's birthday rallies
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is preparing to ensure safety at events planned for former President Rodrigo Duterte’s birthday this coming Friday. Supporters of Duterte will hold prayer rallies and call for his return to the Philippines from The Hague, Netherlands. Duterte, who is currently detained while facing charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC), will turn 80 years old on March 28. He was arrested earlier this month on March 11 after returning to Hong Kong, based on a warrant from the ICC. PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo stated that they are finalizing security arrangements for these events. The police are coordinating with the Davao City Public Safety and Security Office to ensure that everyone attending is safe. Fajardo emphasized that it is routine for the PNP to set up security measures for public gatherings.
