Police analyze seized phones for riot instigator details
Nagpur police are investigating about 70 mobile phones taken from alleged rioters, including a key suspect named Fahim Khan. The phones may provide important information about the riots and people who stirred up violence. Two arrests were made recently, including a young social media influencer. So far, police have acted against 117 people, with 92 arrested. Cyber cell experts are examining the phones from various police stations to analyze messages and communication patterns. One of the phones belongs to Khan's mentor, Mohd Hamid Engineer. Information found in Engineer's chats suggests they discussed ways to provoke violence, even encouraging attacks on police officers. Officials are looking into possible connections between rioters, both nationally and internationally. Reports indicate that the rioters coordinated with each other to encourage violence and shared altered videos of rival groups. These videos showed acts like burning an effigy of the historical figure Aurangzeb, while calling for the removal of his tomb from the state. Authorities believe that details in the seized phones, such as records and messages, will uncover more about the Nagpur riots. Some rioters began deleting their chats as police closed in on them. The arrests were made using manual intelligence, as well as CCTV and video evidence, while social media played a significant role in spreading information related to the riot. The police expect the mobile analysis will reveal further insights into the case.
