Police investigate brawl death of 22-year-old in Phoenix

A 22-year-old man has died after a fight outside a bar in downtown Phoenix. Rafael Montoya passed away on Wednesday from injuries he sustained during the brawl that happened on Sunday. The fight started around 2:30 a.m. near Central Avenue and Pierce Street. Two police officers, who were working security at the bar, tried to break up the altercation. Witnesses alerted them that Montoya was unconscious on the ground. When an officer checked Montoya, he found him breathing but injured. The police stayed with him until emergency responders arrived. Montoya was then taken to the hospital, where he was treated for serious head trauma. Police are investigating the incident. They have interviewed several people involved in the fight and are looking for video evidence. Witnesses who may have recorded the incident are urged to share their footage with the police.
