Police investigate multiple shootings in Edinburgh neighborhoods
Police in Edinburgh are investigating two incidents of gunshots fired over the course of two days. The first incident occurred early Thursday morning at about 3:05 a.m. in Niddrie Marischal Crescent. Authorities believe this shooting was a targeted attack. The second report came on Friday at around 7:55 a.m., about eight miles away in West Pilton Bank. Fortunately, there have been no injuries reported in either case. In response to the Friday morning incident, police have closed roads at West Pilton Road and Pennywell Road, advising people to steer clear of the area. Inspector Alan Healy acknowledged that these events may alarm local residents. He encouraged anyone with concerns to reach out to the police. Officers will remain present in the community as investigations continue. A white BMW 1 series car was spotted near the first incident, and police want to speak to anyone who may have observed this vehicle. Additionally, at about 4:30 a.m., a vehicle was found on Main Street in the Dalmeny area. Police are examining this car to see if it is connected to the Niddrie incident. Detective Inspector Martin Smith stated that the shooting appears to be linked to ongoing conflicts between local groups. He urged anyone with information about the car, or relevant footage from dashcams or doorbell cameras, to come forward. Smith emphasized the importance of community assistance in resolving these incidents.
