Police officer arrested for drugs in Camarines Sur

A police officer was arrested in Baao town, Camarines Sur, during a buy-bust operation on the night of March 21. The officer, Staff Sergeant Joe Vernon Cabaltera, is 35 years old and works with the Provincial Intelligence Unit. Cabaltera was detained around 11:20 p.m. in Barangay San Francisco. Authorities seized 15 grams of shabu, or crystal meth, which is valued at approximately P102,000. They also found a Glock 17 handgun, a magazine with 16 bullets, six additional bullets for a Caliber 45, and a hand grenade. Cabaltera is reported to be a high-value drug personality. He now faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
