Police officer injured during mediation in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was badly injured while trying to mediate a dispute in Kheri village, located in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district. The attack happened on Saturday night when the ASI, Ramnarayan Dhurve, responded to a complaint involving a woman who had married a man named Kamlesh. The woman's family was upset about the court marriage with Kamlesh and had reportedly damaged his house. This led Kamlesh and his family to leave the area in fear. When police arrived to help, they were met with aggression from the woman's relatives and some local villagers, who attacked them with sticks. Following the incident, authorities have filed charges against five individuals for assaulting the police. Those charged include Hemraj, Vishal, Gajraj, Rahul, and Bhura. While ASI Dhurve was hospitalized due to his injuries, the two constables with him were not hurt. The police are actively searching for the assailants. This attack is part of a troubling pattern, as there have been several recent incidents targeting police officers in Madhya Pradesh. Notably, earlier this month, a rescue mission in Mauganj district resulted in the death of a hostage and another ASI, along with injuries to several officers.
