Police officer linked to Maguindanao massacre arrested after civilian tip

A police officer linked to the 2009 Maguindanao massacre was arrested following a tip from civilians. Patrolman Datunot Mangelen Kadir, 48, was taken into custody in Parang town on February 3. Kadir was wanted on 57 counts of murder related to the massacre, which resulted in 58 deaths. He was arrested peacefully after police negotiated his surrender. Authorities had been searching for Kadir but only learned of his location through tips from concerned citizens and relatives. A reward of 250,000 pesos was offered for information leading to his arrest.
