Police officers transferred for assaulting young men
Two assistant sub-inspectors and a constable from the Hallomajra police post have been transferred after allegedly assaulting two young men. The incident occurred on Sunday when the men, Gobind Kumar and Rohit Kumar, went to the police post seeking help for two girls who were reportedly being abused by their father. According to Gobind's complaint, when they arrived at the police post, the girls were already there, upset and claiming they had been assaulted by both their father and the police. Gobind stated that when he and Rohit asked the officers for help, they were instead attacked by the police. The complainants alleged that the officers, who appeared to be intoxicated, bragged about their power, claiming they were above the law. They were reportedly beaten with sticks and kicked. Rohit, who has a previous spine injury, suffered serious injuries during the assault, including a fractured thumb and severe swelling. After the incident, an ambulance was called to take Rohit to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. The police department is conducting an internal investigation into the allegations, while the accused officers have been moved to different assignments.
