Police raid Bandipora homes in terrorism investigations
Police in Bandipora district, Kashmir, carried out raids on Saturday linked to terror-related cases involving banned organizations. The searches took place in multiple areas, including Bandipora town, Naidkhai, and Sumbal Sonawari. The police focused on specific suspects believed to be connected to groups such as the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) and the Jammu Kashmir People’s League. This included houses belonging to two individuals, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Sajad Ahad Nawoo. Both are considered active members of these groups. Additionally, searches were conducted at the homes of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh and Ghulam Mohammad Waza, also suspected of being involved with organizations like Tehreek e Hurriyat. The police stated that these made the investigations more extensive, with actions taken under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. An executive magistrate was present during the searches, but nothing incriminating was found. All of the suspects were questioned. The police aim to disrupt networks supporting terrorism by targeting overground workers who assist terrorist organizations. They plan to take legal action to enforce the law and dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
