Police seek 12-year-old boy for car theft in Harrogate
Police in the UK are searching for a 12-year-old boy accused of stealing a BMW and towing a holiday caravan. The child, who comes from the travelling community, was supposed to appear in court last week but did not show up. The incident happened over a year ago when the boy, then only 11, was caught driving a BMW X5 on the A1M in North Yorkshire. He had been towing a caravan that reportedly had been stolen from a holiday park. Officers stopped him after he managed to drive about 40 miles. The boy was charged with theft, dangerous driving, and handling stolen goods. Due to his absence, the court issued an arrest warrant for him. Because he does not have a permanent address, locating him is proving difficult for the police. Community members in Thirsk expressed concern and stated that the boy's family moves often, making it hard to track them down. The owner of the stolen caravan shared her relief that police acted quickly to catch the boy before more damage could be done. The police encourage vehicle owners to enhance security measures like installing alarms and trackers to prevent thefts like this one.
