Police seek public help in Bridgeport shooting case

Police are investigating the shooting of a 14-year-old boy in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The incident occurred Saturday evening, shortly after 5 p.m., when police were alerted to gunshots on Union Avenue through ShotSpotter notifications. Around 5:40 p.m., the victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle, which was later found abandoned on Mill Hill Avenue. Uniformed police officers responded to the hospital to begin their investigation. The Detective Bureau has taken charge of the case, and evidence has been collected from both Mill Hill Avenue and the 700 block of Union Avenue. Police are currently processing the evidence through their Forensic Identification Unit. They reported that the Crime Gun Intelligence Team is working on developing strong leads in the case. Bridgeport police are asking the public for assistance.
