Police seek suspect in Sydney's eastern fire investigation
Police in Sydney’s eastern suburbs are searching for a young man linked to a series of recent fires. They have released video footage of him in hopes that the public can help identify him. The most recent incident occurred on March 18, just after 3 AM. Residents in Edgecliff reported a car on fire. Firefighters arrived to find a Mitsubishi SUV engulfed in flames. They managed to put out the fire, but the vehicle was completely destroyed. Just ten minutes later, police found a burnt chair at a nearby intersection in Paddington. Authorities believe this fire may be connected to another incident in September 2024, when a rubbish bin was set on fire in the same area. So far, no arrests have been made. The man seen in the CCTV footage is described as Caucasian, about 180 centimeters tall, medium build, and has neck-length black hair. He appeared to be looking into bins moments before they were set ablaze. Police are encouraging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
