Police seize 34 kg of marijuana at Agartala station
Police at Agartala Railway Station in Tripura seized 34 kilograms of marijuana, worth around ₹5.10 lakh, during a routine check. The drug was found abandoned, and there was no one claiming it. Authorities have now begun an investigation to find out who owned the illegal substance. The Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) believe that the marijuana may be linked to an interstate drug trafficking network. They are working to trace the individuals involved in this case. In response to this seizure, law enforcement agencies are increasing their efforts to monitor railway stations and other transit points for illegal drug activity. Recently, the GRP and Railway Protection Force arrested two women for drug smuggling at the same station. They seized 10.755 kilograms of marijuana hidden in bags. The women were trying to transport the drugs out of Tripura on the Deoghar Express. The two accused, identified as Uma Devi and Kajal Devi, are both from Bihar. They have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Their estimated worth of the seized drugs is about ₹1.6 lakh. Authorities expect more arrests as their investigation continues. The women will face court proceedings soon.
