Police suspended Sector-56 in-charge for abusing woman

Chandigarh Police suspended Sector-56 post in-charge Prem Kumar after a video showed him verbally abusing a woman, Parvati Devi. This action followed her formal complaint to senior superintendent of police Kanwardeep Kaur. Parvati Devi, a domestic worker, reported that her daughter was approached by a man who exchanged a packet for money. After discovering the packet contained drugs, Parvati confronted suspected drug dealers and was assaulted. When Parvati sought help at the police post, she faced hostility instead of support. She provided video evidence of the abuse to the SSP, leading to Kumar's suspension.
