Police to target unregistered homestays in Kodagu
The police in Karnataka's Kodagu district will take action against unregistered homestays. This follows a change in registration rules, reducing requirements from 18 to 3 conditions. The aim is to promote official operations and create jobs in rural areas. Authorities emphasize the importance of sustainable tourism and the need for all tourists to present ID when staying at homestays. They express concern that any negative incidents could harm Kodagu's reputation and tourism industry. Currently, about 4,000 homestays operate in the district, with 2,229 registered. The district sees around 60 lakh visitors annually, highlighting the need for law-abiding tourism practices.
