Political activist arrested for allegedly raping a child

Devu Nayak, a political activist, was arrested on Wednesday in Ballari for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl. The incident was reported to the police at the Sirigeri station in Siruguppa taluk. According to the complaint, Nayak is accused of blindfolding and gagging the girl before taking her to a secluded spot where he assaulted her. A woman reportedly assisted him during the incident, but police have not revealed more details about her involvement. Nayak was actively seeking a ticket from a national party to run in the upcoming zilla panchayat elections and was in contact with senior officials about his candidacy.
