Poll: MLive readers prefer renaming Lake Erie

Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican candidate for Ohio governor, recently suggested renaming one of the Great Lakes to Lake Ohio. This comment was made during a GOP fundraiser near Lake Erie. To gauge public opinion, MLive conducted a poll asking readers which lake should be renamed. The results showed that 59% of voters chose Lake Erie. Lake Ontario followed in second with 23%, while Lake Michigan received 11%. Lakes Superior and Huron had 6% and 1%, respectively. Ramaswamy made his remark in a light-hearted manner while addressing supporters. He hinted that he might discuss this idea further as his campaign continues. A spokesperson later clarified that the comment was meant to be a joke. The crowd reacted with applause and cheers.
