Pondicherry University Students' Council demands administration transparency

The Students' Council at Pondicherry University has raised alarms about issues within the university administration. They are calling for immediate intervention from higher authorities to restore order and promote transparency. Gayathri S. Kumar, the president of the Students' Council, highlighted that there are conflicting decisions coming from the office of the Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) and the Registrar. This situation shows a clear conflict at the highest levels of the administration. The Madras High Court recently ruled on February 19, 2025, allowing the former Registrar to resume his duties after revoking the order that removed him. However, the current Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) has ignored this decision and issued a notice to prevent the former Registrar from returning to his position. The Students’ Council believes these actions weaken the trust and fairness that should be present in such important public roles. They are urging the university authorities to take steps to remedy the situation.
