Port Henry building transformed into residential and commercial space
Port Henry has a new development at the former Fashion Corner building. The renovated site now features four apartments and two commercial spaces. This project was completed by the Badichi Group, a real-estate company from New York City. Owner Yaron Badichi expressed pride in the project, highlighting the collaborative effort behind it. A public open house is scheduled for April 3. The event will start at 3 p.m., with a dedication ceremony at 4:30 p.m. The renovated building will also include a coin-operated laundry for residents. Moriah Town Supervisor Matthew Brassard noted that this project significantly improves Main Street. He recalled how the property had been in disrepair, raising concerns three years ago about illegal activities. Now, the situation has changed. Brassard mentioned that the building could serve as workforce housing, and there are already some tenants living there. The project received a grant from National Grid, aimed at revitalizing local downtrodden areas. Brassard praised the investment as a valuable enhancement to Main Street. National Grid Regional Executive Kimberly Ireland emphasized the importance of the project for rural downtown revitalization. She stated that it shows how older structures can be repurposed for modern uses. Badichi has worked alongside local officials and business groups to make this project a reality. Looking ahead, Brassard shared ideas for commercial tenants, suggesting a meat market as a strong possibility for one of the new spaces. The renovations have brought fresh energy to the area, and the community is excited about the changes.
