Portland agencies enforcing DUI patrols for St. Patrick's Day
Portland law enforcement agencies are conducting DUI patrols through St. Patrick's Day weekend. The effort involves two dozen agencies and began on Friday night, aiming to reduce impaired driving and prevent crashes. On Friday night, officers stopped 260 drivers, issued 172 tickets, and made 11 arrests, including seven for DUI. This follows a record high of fatal crashes in Portland, with 69 reported in 2023. To promote safe transportation, the Portland Bureau of Transportation is offering discounts for taxi, Uber, and Lyft rides during the holiday weekend.
