Power and Lowry perform well at Valspar Championship
Seamus Power is three shots behind the leader after he shot a 70 in the opening round of the Valspar Championship. He finished the round at one-under-par, putting him in a tie for 23rd place. His round included birdies at the 17th, first, and fifth holes, but he ended with a bogey at the 18th. Shane Lowry, also from Ireland, finished one shot behind Power with an even-par 71. He started strong by making a birdie on the first hole. However, he had a setback with a three-putt on the fifth hole. He ended the front nine with another birdie, but a bogey at the 17th left him without any under-par scores. First-round play was suspended due to darkness, with ten players still on the course. They will complete their rounds this morning. Five players share the lead at four-under-par, including Keith Mitchell and Stephan Jaeger. Both have previous PGA Tour victories, and Mitchell recalled the disappointment he faced last year at the same tournament when he lost the lead in the final round. He hopes to use that experience as motivation moving forward.
