Power outage scheduled for 900 homes south of Jackson
About 900 homes and businesses in Vandercook Lake, south of Jackson, will lose power overnight on March 22. Consumers Energy is making upgrades to the electrical grid. The outage will last from 11 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. During this time, crews will replace poles, lines, and other equipment. This work is part of an effort to improve the energy system in the area. Brian Wheeler, a company spokesperson, said the upgrades will lead to more reliable service in the future. The affected area includes locations south of Cass Avenue and west of Draper Road. Residents should have received postcards about the planned outage. To reduce disruption, Consumers Energy usually schedules such work at night. If the work needs to be postponed, the backup date for the outage will be March 29, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Customers can call Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050 for any questions or concerns.
