Pramod Madhwaraj charged for provocative speech in Udupi
Udupi police have filed a case against former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj. The charges are related to a provocative speech he gave during a protest by the Malpe Fishermen Association. The protest took place at Malpe Fishing Harbour on Saturday. The protest was in response to the arrest of five fishermen. They were accused of assaulting a woman by tying her to a tree on March 18. In his speech, Madhwaraj defended the fishermen's actions. He claimed they had acted appropriately and only slapped the woman without using any weapons. Madhwaraj stated that the victim did not object to how the fishermen behaved. Following his comments, police accused him of encouraging criminal behavior and inciting unrest. He has been charged under specific sections of Indian law.
