Pratap Nagar residents seek land leases from JDA
Around 80 residents of the Krishna Vihar colony in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, have asked Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for help. They want the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to issue land leases, known as 'patta.' The JDA regulated their colony in 2007. However, the local JDA office has not issued leases to these residents. They say this is because part of the colony was changed in a 2018 plan for government use. Mahesh Tiwari, a resident, explained that in 2023, JDA leases were granted to about 80 others. Among the remaining residents, around 70 do not want leases as they are using their residential plots for commercial purposes. Tiwari mentioned that a JDA tribunal had ruled in February 2024 that there are no restrictions on issuing leases for residential plots, except for one area. Despite this, the deputy commissioner is not granting leases for the remaining plots.
