Priestley and Sampson star in 'Private Eyes' spin-off
Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson are set to return in a new spin-off series called Private Eyes West Coast. This follows the success of their original show, Private Eyes, which ended in 2021. In the new series, the characters Matt Shade and Angie Everett will work as private investigators in Victoria, British Columbia. They will face a variety of new cases and meet new friends while living different lives from their time in Toronto. More details about casting and production will be shared later. The spin-off aims to keep the same comedy-drama style that fans enjoyed in the first series. It is being produced by Lionsgate Canada and Piller/Segan for Corus Entertainment's network, Global. The teams behind the original show are returning for this new project. Rachel Nelson, a VP at Corus Studios, expressed excitement about the spin-off. She noted that this is the first time Corus has greenlit a spin-off of one of its own scripted shows. The original Private Eyes was popular with audiences, both in Canada and internationally. Jason Priestley's character, Matt Shade, is a former hockey player, while Cindy Sampson's character, Angie Everett, is a strong-willed private investigator. The original show also aired in the U.S. on the Ion Network after a deal was made in 2017.
