Prime Infrastructure Holdings Corp., part of the Razon Group, has hired Mace, a global consultancy and construction company, to improve the management of its hydroelectric power projects. The projects have a total capacity of 2,000 megawatts (MW). The announcement was made on Wednesday. The agreement includes creating a project management office (PMO) for two specific projects: the 600 MW Wawa and the 1,400 MW Pakil. Mace will help streamline operations, focusing on areas like organization and technology. The Wawa project, located in Rizal province, aims to start operations by 2029. It plans to store 6,000 megawatt-hours of electricity. Meanwhile, the Pakil project, which is in Laguna, is expected to be one of Asia's largest pumped storage power plants, planned to be operational by 2030 with a storage capacity of 14,000 MWh. Prime Infra's CEO, Guillaume Lucci, emphasized the importance of completing these projects on time to meet the Philippines' energy needs. He noted that Mace's expertise will enhance project efficiency and management structures. Both projects have received certificates of energy project significance from the Department of Energy. This designation helps prioritize their applications and fast-track necessary permits. The projects are expected to support the government in reaching its renewable energy goals: 35 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2050.
