Prince Harry selects Althorp estate as UK retreat
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has a new place to stay when he visits the UK. He is reportedly using Althorp, a large estate in West Northamptonshire, as his hidden retreat. The estate is known to be worth hundreds of millions and has 31 bedrooms, a games room, and a spa. Harry, who is 40 years old, is expected to return to Althorp in April. A royal expert, Phil Dampier, mentioned that this estate offers him privacy away from the public eye. It is a significant location for Harry since it was home to his mother, Princess Diana, who is buried on the grounds. Althorp has been in the Spencer family for over 500 years and is currently managed by Diana's brother, Charles Spencer. He has a close relationship with Harry and has expressed his support for Harry’s projects, such as the Invictus Games. The Duke's relationship with his brother, Prince William, remains strained. They have had little communication since Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Their most recent interaction was during the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, and it seems they did not speak to each other. Reports suggest that William may prefer Harry to stay at Althorp instead of a royal residence, as it makes things simpler for the royal family. Harry has been spending time at Althorp to escape the attention that comes with being a royal.
