Prince William visits South Africa to promote climate action and award Earthshot grants
Prince William is visiting South Africa to focus on climate and environmental issues. During his four-day trip, he will meet young environmentalists and local fishermen, and award $1.2 million in grants through his Earthshot Prize to five innovative organizations.
The Earthshot awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday in a temporary dome in Cape Town. This year’s finalists include projects from Kenya, Ecuador, and Kazakhstan, addressing various environmental challenges. William aims to inspire young people in Africa, a continent facing significant climate vulnerabilities.
William's last visit to Africa was in 2018. He will also attend a global wildlife summit and visit a sea rescue institute. Additionally, he plans to join a rugby practice at a local high school.
