Private jet deliveries rose significantly in 2024
The private jet industry has experienced significant growth since the pandemic. Many people discovered the advantages of flying privately, such as convenience and flexibility. Business owners, in particular, have found private jets save them time, which is crucial. As a result, there has been a surge in demand for private jet charters and ownership. When purchasing a private jet, buyers usually visit manufacturers or work with brokers. They can view aircraft, take test flights, and negotiate prices. After completion, ownership is transferred, and the jet is delivered to the buyer’s chosen airport. Key manufacturers in this market include Bombardier, Gulfstream, Cessna, Dassault Aviation, and Embraer. Buying a new aircraft often involves a waiting list, especially for popular models. For example, the Gulfstream G650 had a three-year waiting list when it was launched. These delays can be attributed to supply chain issues and high demand. Many clients pre-order based on prior charter experiences. The buying process begins with deciding on the type of jet needed, budget, and passenger capacity. Clients can arrange appointments with manufacturers' sales representatives, go for test flights, and customize their aircraft based on personal preferences. This includes choosing furnishings and technical features. Once the design is confirmed, the aircraft goes through inspections to ensure quality and safety. The delivery includes a ceremony. Ground checks and acceptance flights are conducted to verify everything is in order. Following this, clients sign necessary documents, and ownership transfers before the jet is transported to its base. According to reports, private jet deliveries increased to 764 in 2024, marking the second-highest figure in over a decade. Major manufacturers reported strong sales, with Textron Aviation leading the market, followed by Bombardier, Gulfstream, and Embraer. The overall value of private jets reached about $26.7 billion in 2024. As more businesses and wealthy individuals realize the benefits of private aviation, the trend of private ownership is likely to keep growing.
