Priyanka Chopra becomes India's highest-paid actress again
Priyanka Chopra has become India's highest-paid actress, signing a deal worth ₹30 crore for her upcoming film. This new project is directed by SS Rajamouli and stars Mahesh Babu. It will be Priyanka's first Bollywood film in nearly six years and her return to South Indian cinema after over two decades. Before Priyanka's signing, Deepika Padukone held the title, earning ₹20 crore for her film "Kalki 2898 AD." Alia Bhatt, another major star, charges around ₹15 crore per film, while other actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Nayanthara earn ₹10 crore or more. Priyanka's fee is notable because it is the highest ever paid to an Indian actress for a single film. Industry insiders say that the long wait to announce her role was due to her demands for her fees. Priyanka believes that female actors should also be paid high salaries, similar to their male counterparts. Since moving to the U.S. in 2015, Priyanka has not been active in Indian films. She last appeared in the Hindi film "The Sky Is Pink" in 2019. Although she has worked on several international projects, including "Citadel," her role in Rajamouli's film is being seen as her significant return to the Indian cinema scene.
