Pro-Palestinian activist arrested by immigration authorities
Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist and legal permanent resident, was arrested by federal immigration authorities on Saturday. He recently graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree. His lawyer stated that they will challenge the arrest in court. Khalil's wife, who is pregnant, was unable to locate him at a New Jersey detention center. The arrest marks a notable increase in federal actions against activists. U.S. immigration officials have not commented on the situation.
