Pro-Russia cyber attack disrupts multiple UK council websites

Portsmouth City Council has reported a cyber attack on its website, attributed to the pro-Russian group NoName057(16). This follows similar attacks on other councils, including Salford and Middlesbrough, which have also experienced disruptions. Portsmouth confirmed that no council services or resident data were compromised. The website is currently facing issues, but residents can still access services through the MyPortsmouth platform. Other councils affected earlier this week, such as Salford, Bury, and Trafford, have restored their websites. The National Cyber Security Centre is providing guidance to the impacted councils.
