Protest in Langley against Elon Musk's political influence
A peaceful protest took place at a Tesla dealership in Langley, B.C., on Saturday. Demonstrators expressed their concerns about Elon Musk and his influence on democracy. More than a dozen people gathered for a protest they called “Tesla Takedown.” One protester, Joanne Fry, shared her feeling that Musk is “evil.” She mentioned that she had considered buying a Tesla but was relieved she did not. Many attendees aimed to raise awareness among Canadians about their views on Musk, especially due to his ties with U.S. President Donald Trump. This protest was part of a larger movement that started in the United States and has moved to Canada. Smaller protests have also occurred, with some instances of vandalism at Tesla locations in places like Edmonton and Hamilton. Organizer Pat McCutcheon expressed a desire to challenge Musk's influence further. While Saturday’s demonstration was non-violent, recent protests have led to criminal activity. The Vancouver Police Department reported multiple incidents of mischief at Tesla dealerships, with investigations ongoing. One incident involved a man spray-painting a dealership, resulting in his arrest and charges. Police urged demonstrators to express their opinions peacefully and avoid crossing any legal boundaries. They emphasized that unlawful actions will have consequences.
