Protesters arrested at Trump Tower over activist's detention
Nearly 100 protesters were arrested at Trump Tower in Manhattan on Thursday. They were demonstrating against the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and Columbia University student, by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The protest, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, featured slogans like "Free Mahmoud Khalil." Demonstrators entered the lobby and were later arrested by police, with no reported injuries or property damage. Khalil was detained after the Trump administration canceled his green card. President Trump stated that this arrest is the first of many targeting individuals he describes as "terrorist sympathizers" involved in pro-Palestinian activities.
