Protesters occupy Trump Tower demanding Mahmoud Khalil's release
Protesters occupied Trump Tower in New York City on Thursday, demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist detained by immigration agents. The sit-in, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, drew hundreds of demonstrators. Khalil, a Columbia University graduate and green card holder, was arrested over the weekend. His attorney stated that his student visa was revoked without a warrant. A federal judge has temporarily blocked his deportation while reviewing a challenge to his arrest. The protest included chants and banners, with police removing around 100 demonstrators. Khalil is currently held in a Louisiana immigration detention facility. The Department of Homeland Security claims his detention is linked to activities associated with Hamas.
