Protestors clash with police over deportation case in NYC

Dozens of protesters were arrested in New York City during a demonstration against the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate facing deportation. The protests began with a sit-in at the university and moved to Washington Square Park. Protesters marched through Lower Manhattan, blocking streets and chanting slogans. Police reported that at least a dozen individuals were handcuffed for not following orders to clear the road. Khalil, a 29-year-old permanent U.S. resident, was arrested by ICE agents at his apartment. A U.S. district judge has ordered him to remain in the U.S. while a court reviews his case, with a hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
