Protests for Imran Khan's release escalate in Pakistan, six killed in clashes
Protesters in Pakistan are demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned for over a year. On Tuesday, clashes with security forces resulted in at least six deaths, including four security personnel. Thousands of security forces are deployed in Islamabad to control the unrest. Khan's supporters broke through barriers in the capital, despite government threats of live fire. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that police have the authority to respond to violence. Protests have intensified since Sunday, with many demonstrators expressing frustration over economic and political issues. The government has arrested over 4,000 Khan supporters and restricted mobile and internet services to limit communication. A court has banned rallies in the capital, and travel has been severely disrupted due to roadblocks. Educational institutions remain closed amid the unrest.
