Protests in Patiala suspended after securing meeting request
In Patiala, a protest led by Jaswinder Kaur Bath, the wife of Col P S Bath, has been suspended after they secured a meeting with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. This meeting is set for March 31 to discuss the protesters' demands. They seek a CBI investigation into an attack that left Col Bath and his son injured. Jaswinder Kaur stated that her husband and son did nothing wrong. She highlighted that police officers had acknowledged their wrongdoing, which has left her distrustful of the police. However, she expressed some faith in the local administration, noting the support from the Patiala deputy commissioner. The protest began following the attack on Col Bath and his son, allegedly due to a dispute over parking outside a local dhaba. Several police officers involved in the incident have been transferred, and disciplinary actions, including suspensions, have been taken against 12 officers as a special investigation team has been established. Jaswinder Kaur indicated that the meeting with the Chief Minister is a small comfort but warned that protests could resume if their demands are not met. During the meeting, Col Bath and his son Angad will voice their concerns directly to the Chief Minister.
