Proteus secures funding and customer for satellite design
Proteus, a leader in custom satellite bus solutions, has achieved a major milestone with its new automated engineering system, MERCURY™. This system can create detailed structural designs for satellite frames in just one week. Previously, this process took up to 16 months. MERCURY™ offers high-quality analysis and design that passes launch tests on the first try, making it the fastest solution available. The CEO of Proteus, David Kervin, expressed excitement about the advancement in the satellite bus industry. He noted that customers, including government agencies and aerospace companies, need tailor-made solutions. Proteus is meeting this demand with a rapid and reliable design process that avoids the limitations of standard satellite buses. In addition to its technological achievements, Proteus has signed its first commercial payload customer for the upcoming MERCURY ONE flight, scheduled for October 2025. This customer is a key player in the Defense and Aerospace sector and will use the satellite to test new technology. Proteus also announced it has raised $6.1 million in Seed-2 funding, led by Lavrock Ventures. This investment will help expand the MERCURY™ system and support the company’s growth in the competitive space market. Proteus aims to provide faster and more affordable custom satellite designs.
